Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods returning to Maple Grove on Aug. 27

They’re back by popular demand. The Northeast Outlaw Pro Mods (NEOPMA) return to Maple Grove Raceway on Saturday, August 27, for the annual Rumble at the Grove sponsored by Penske Truck Leasing and CJ Tire and Automotive Services.

Spectators and crew members are $23, teen’s ages 13-15 are $10 and children 12 and under are free. New for this year is the $25 Car Load Special beginning after 3 p.m. For the first time ever, a carload special that includes Pit Side Parking but is only valid starting at 3 p.m.

The Outlaw Pro Mods are featuring a 16 car qualified field with well-known stars including local racers Kevin McCurdy and Tyler Hard. Driving his Nitrous Camaro, Tyler Hard will be out to defend his 2015 NEOPMA title and joining him is the number two finisher in the 2016 points chase, Kevin McCurdy, driving his Supercharged Camaro. A few of the other pro mod racers in attendance will be Freddie Scriba ( Nitrous Corvette), Tommy Gray (Supercharged Corvette), Steve Assenmacher (Nitrous Probe), Steve Drummand (Turbocharged Mustang), Robert Patrick (Nitrous GT500 Mustang), Matt Deitsch (Nitrous Camaro) and Craig Pio (Turbocharged Corvette).

Joining NEOPMA is the EFI Source Index Series at the Grove, featuring 8.50, 10.0, 11.50, 12.50 and Pro Dial. This will be the Index Series’ last chance to race at Maple Grove before returning for the Pennsylvania Dutch Classic in October. Top Sportsman, Top Dragster in addition to a Pro & Street Combo class are on the schedule to ensure a day packed full of racing.

For those fans wishing to experience an entire day of intense racing, gates open at 8 a.m. with qualifying sessions beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Pro Mods are set to run three qualifying sessions at 10:30 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Eliminations begin at 3 p.m. with the Index Series. Pro Mod eliminations are scheduled for 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Entering its 54th season, Maple Grove Raceway will once again host a full season of championship racing events. Including, the NHRA Keystone Nationals, which is part of the NHRA Mello Yello Series’ Countdown to the Championship. The Keystone Nationals will return to Reading, Pennsylvania September 29th through October 2nd.

Dover International Speedway will pay tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with the annual 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive, set for Friday, Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. This marks the 11th consecutive year that Dover International Speedway, Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and the Blood Bank of Delmarva have partnered together for this event, dating to 2006.

In appreciation to all who register this year, each person will receive a pair of general admission tickets to the Saturday, Oct. 1, “Drive Sober 200” presented by the Delaware Office of Highway Safety NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Dover International Speedway.

“The tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001 occurred almost 15 years ago, but that day is still fresh in the minds of everyone who lived through it and experienced the immediate aftermath,” said Mike Tatoian, the president and CEO of Dover International Speedway. “Our annual Blood Drive provides an important way for the community to remember those sacrifices and contribute to a critical cause.”

*** For the second time in 2016, the 410 Sprint Cars and 600cc Micro Sprints combine for a thrilling dou- ble header of dirt track racing action on Sunday, August 28 for Fred Rahmer Promotions’ Party at the Path spectacular.

The popular ¼-mile dirt track, known for its highspeed, multiple- groove, wing-to-wing action will feature the fastest cars on dirt – the 410 Sprint Cars -- competing in a full program of qualifying time trials, heat races, and a 40-lap main event.

The region’s fastest racers are expected to be on hand for the Fred Rahmer Promotions event at the Path Valley Speedway.

The 600cc Micro Sprints will once again see a complete program of qualifying heat races and a 25-lap feature event.

A highlight of the 410 Sprint Car season at Party at the Path events is the opportunity for a randomly selected competitor to win a four-night trip to Las Vegas, with airfare and hotel accommodations for two people. To be entered into the drawing, a driver must compete in all three of Fred Rahmer Promotions events at Path Valley Speedway.

General Admission Tickets for Sunday, August 28 at Spring Run, PA’s Path Valley Speedway are $20 and children under 12 are admitted free Pit Admission is $30.

*** The season is winding down at Grandview Speedway. A.D.Moyer Lumber sponsors the Saturday, August 27th NASCAR tripleheader that will feature the T.P.Trailers 358 Modifieds, BRC Late Models and Sportsman stock cars.

Just two Saturday nights of NASCAR point racing remain and the chase for the championships in all three divisions is the closest seen in a number of years.

As is the norm Saturday night racing will get the green flag at 7:30 p.m.

The final point event of the season is set for September 3rd when WNPV1440AM Radio presents the tripleheader of NASCAR stock car racing action.

And advance tickets for the richest Modified race in the area, the Freedom 76 Classic, are now on sale. Tickets for the September 10th event can be had for $35 in advance ($40 in race day) by sending a check to Grandview Speedway, 87 Wilt Road, Bechtelsville, PA 19505 along with a selfaddressed stamped envelope to speed return of the tickets. The 76-lap race pays $25,000 to win and attracts the very best in dirt track modified racing.

And the night before the Sportsman and TSRS Sprints will be in action starting at 7 p.m.
