Fire­works in­side trail­ers ex­plode in Union Town­ship.

UNION TWP. >> Fire­works stored in­side two trac­tor­trail­ers caught fire and ex­ploded Wed­nes­day night, May 10.

The fire was re­ported around 8:30 p.m. at In­ter­na­tional Fire­works Man­u­fac­tur­ing Co. near Shed and Red Cor­ner roads in Union Town­ship by res­i­dents who heard ex­plo­sions.

Smoke from the trail­ers could be seen up to a mile away, ac­cord­ing to wit­nesses.

Fire­fight­ers from Berks, Ch­ester and Mont­gomery coun­ties re­sponded to the scene and were able to con­tain the fires to the trail­ers ex­cept for a small wooded area near the trail­ers that also caught fire.

No injuries were re­ported and fire­fight­ers on the scene said no ad­join­ing property were threat­ened by the fire.

The cause of the fire is un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion by the state po­lice fire mar­shal.

Two trac­tor-trailer loads of fire­works were de­stroyed as fire­men ar­rived from three coun­ties to control the fire Wed­nes­day night.


Fire­fight­ers from Berks, Ch­ester and Mont­gomery coun­ties fought a fire along Shed Road in Union Town­ship late Wed­nes­day night, May 10.
