Kid movie reviewer gives ‘The Emoji Movie’ 2 popcorn boxes

“The Emoji Movie” had a very thin plot and more than one story. It doesn’t unfold smoothly and this movie isn’t what I thought it was going to be from the trailer and poster. There are a couple of laughs throughout the movie, which is something good.

This is why I only give the Emoji Movie 2 popcorn boxes. (4 out of 4 boxes of popcorn is A+, 3 out of 4 boxes of popcorn is B, 2 out of 4 boxes of popcorn is C, 1 out of 4 boxes of popcorn is D.)

Starring T.J. Miller, James Corden, and Anna Faris, “The Emoji Movie” is rated PG and runs 1 hour and 26 minutes.

The Emoji Movie is an animated feature that tells the story of “Gene,” an emoji who suffers a malfunction in the form of multiple emotions. Not fitting the rule of one emotion per emoji, and in an effort to conform, Gene must travel to the cloud to fix his malfunction. With the assistance of fellow emojies, Gene navigates apps, video games, and You Tube to reach his goal. In the process, he learns the importance of friendship and how to embrace his unique qualities.
