Haunted His­tory: Fri­day the Thir­teenth is the Grand Opening of the Haunted His­tory Gallery at the Boy­er­town Area His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety Mu­seum. Revel in the in­ter­ac­tive ex­hibits, pos­ing for your pic­ture in an open cof­fin, ex­plor­ing an iron mine, or vis­it­ing the lo­cal “dentist” for kids of ages. Hear all about the haunted ac­tiv­ity in the mu­seum and track down the spir­its for your­self. All of this while learn­ing about the his­tory of Boy­er­town from 6to 9PM at 43 S. Fall open house: Mono­cacy Hill Recre­ation Area, Amity Town­ship, Dou­glassville, will be hold­ing a Fall Open House from 10-5 p.m. Ac­tiv­i­ties will in­clude hikes through­out the day , free snacks and re­fresh­ments and youth ac­tiv­i­ties. Be­reave­ment group: sudSSpirit Be­reave­ment Sup­port Group will hold its monthly meet­ing on Wednesday Oc­to­ber 25th at 6 PM at the Ex­eter Com­mu­nity Li­brary. The group is for those that are sur­vivors of the sud­den un­ex­pected death of their spouse or sig­nif­i­cant other. No reg­is­tra­tion is re­quired and it is free. Read­ing Tu­tors: Vol­un­teers needed for Ready.Set.READ! Pro­gram; Help make a dif­fer­ence in a child’s life! Vol­un­teers are needed to tu­tor 2nd grade stu­dents who are strug­gling with read­ing at Lo­rane El­e­men­tary, Mt.

Penn El­e­men­tary and Mono­cacy El­e­men­tary Schools. No pre­vi­ous teach­ing ex­pe­ri­ence is re­quired. Stitch­ing Cir­cle: The Mif­flin Com­mu­nity Li­brary’s Evening Stitch­ing Cir­cle meets ev­ery Mon­day from 6:30-8 p.m., and the Af­ter­noon Stitch­ing Cir­cle meets ev­ery Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. New mem­bers are al­ways welcome and should bring their own ma­te­ri­als. There are cur­rently be­tween 12-15 mem­bers who sew, knit and cro­chet. The group works on per­sonal projects as well as ser­vice projects to ben­e­fit the com­mu­nity.
