Futurebirds to play region show

The popular Athensbased musical group Futurebirds will play a special concert in Rome at the Rome City Brewing Co. on Oct. 6 at 9 p.m.

The show is a fundraiser for the Exchange Club Family Resource Center which was formed 26 years ago to combat child abuse.

The popular band has headlined shows throughout the Southeast with a sound that has been described as running from a “Southern twang, to soft eeriness, to more of an indie rock vibe.”

“We welcome this opportunity to showcase a great band with a fantastic community spirit that has embraced our local child abuse prevention efforts,” said Family Resource Center President Lee Niedrach. “When they learned about our center and the great success rate of helping families in Rome and Floyd County, they jumped at the opportunity.”

Tickets for the show are $20 and are available online at www.freshtix.com by searching “Futurebirds,” or on the band’s touring site www.futurebirdsmusic.com/tour/.
