Lady Jack­ets cel­e­brate se­nior night

Rockmart se n i o r s reached a mile­stone in the fi­nal days of their reg­u­lar sea­son last week as the Lady Yel­low Jack­ets vol­ley­ball team hon­ored play­ers plan­ning to grad­u­ate this com­ing spring were cel­e­brated.

It was a big pair of games for Maken­zie Kent and Alexis Clan­ton, as they played Model and Pep­perell last Tues­day, Sept. 19, in re­gion ac­tion at home for their se­nior night.

The out­come for the Lady Jack­ets (4-23-2, 1-5 in Re­gion 7-AA) did not come out to what was ex­pected; the first match against Model went into an over­time third match, but the Lady Blue Devils won with a 2-1 score.

Rockmart also fought hard against Pep­perell in the pair of sets but the Lady Drag­ons also came out on top in the re­gion play.

In the pair of matches against re­gion teams, Kent picked up a com­bined 14 kills and 60 digs against Model and Pep­perell, while Clan­ton picked up 10 aces and 30 digs.

Kins­ley Wool­fork had 25 digs through­out the tour­na­ment.

Rockmart head coach April Forsyth could not have been hap­pier to have coached Kent and Clan­ton for the past four years.

She said in their time to­gether, the bond she has grew with her play­ers and it is quite ob­vi­ous when you see them on the court that she has loved ev­ery minute of it.

“I am very proud to have coached them for the past four years and I wish these two ladies luck in their fu­ture en­deav­ors in life,” Forsyth said.

Rockmart’s fi­nal reg­u­lar sea­son matches were com­ing up on Tues­day af­ter press time against Coosa and Lake­view-Fort Oglethorpe.

Rockmart’s vol­ley­ball team falls to Model and Pep­perell.
