Report: Teens caught with drugs at Alternative School
Two teens at Polk County’s Alternative School are facing drug charges, and one a weapons charge after administrators found the items after a search, according to police.
Police Chief Jamie Newsome reported that administrators called Officer Kevin Young from the Cedartown Police Department to the school after suspected marijuana and a crushed up pill suspected to be a controlled substance were found on students Ricky Joseph Brooks and Stephen Samuel Blake Corn, both 17.
Newsome said a razor blade was also found on Corn in his billfold, which also added a weapons charge to his arrest.
He said both Brooks and Corn were taken into custody without incident.
Brooks is charged with possession of marijuana or a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. Corn was charged with carry- ing a weapon in a school safety zone, school function or school property as a license holder, and possession of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
Corn remained in jail as of Wednesday afternoon on a $6,000 bond.
Brooks was released on the same amount of bond.
