Best of Polk appears today

Who has the best barbecue? Maybe the best deal on floor coverings? Or who is the best family doctor in all of Polk County?

For the third year in a row, the Standard Journal has sought votes from the community on who has the best of the best in a variety of categories, and this year you didn’t disappoint.

After all the votes were tallied, thousands of nominations online and by paper ballot provided us with a long list of businesses and services, items and places we should give the Reader’s Choice Award for 2017. All told, the final count came to 13,743 nominations place by 1,034 voters.

We here at the Standard Journal would like to thank all of those who participated in this year’s voting which took place earlier in the fall. We also thank those businesses who participated in making this edition a success for another year running.

If you were hoping to see your favorite person, place or particular item voted as the Best of Polk for 2017 by your fellow readers, don’t fret. Wait around for a while in 2018, and keep track of the paper starting in October to see when voting will open again.
