Applicatio­ns for will be taken starting Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 for assistance with power bills from the Rockmart-Aragon United Fund in the Rockmart Municipal Complex at 214 N. Piedmont Ave., Rockmart, from opening hours until 2 p.m. Only those Rockmart Georgia Power customers who are seeking help can apply, and are required to bring their most recent power bill and social security cards for all members of a household including children. All applicants must show up in person to request informatio­n and fill out forms. Bills must be 10 days past due and have at least two charges on them before being considered. Rules and guidelines will be followed, and there is no guarantee of help for those Rockmart customers seeking, but the organizati­on will consider all applicants from Rockmart.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, Keep Polk Beautiful invites everyone to bring their Christmas tree to the Polk/Haralson Christian Center at 3900 Ant i och Rd, Cedartown from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tree seedlings, free flower packets, and a free petting zoo provided by The Cook Farm will be on site for the event.

The next spaghetti dinner at the American Legion Post 12 will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2017. Meal is spaghetti, meatballs, garlic toast and salad, $5 all-u-can-eat. Best $5 meal anywhere.

The Cedartown First United Methodist Church is hosting “A Blue Christmas” on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 7 p.m. It is designed as an alternativ­e Christmas event for those who struggle with the loss of a loved one during the holidays, or from depression or other issues in their life circumstan­ces. Lutheran Services of Georgia’s Heritage Adoption Program partners with DFCS to find Forever Families for children waiting in Georgia’s foster care system. Soup and “Savior,” a local nonprofit organizati­on, meets from 6 to 7 p. m. Tuesdays to provide needed items to deserving people.
