2 badly injured in wreck on Rockmart Highway
Floyd County police reported two men were taken to Floyd Medical Center following a head on wreck on the Rockmart Highway early morning incident that blocked traffic for those coming to and from Polk County.
According t o Floyd County Police reports:
A 2001 BMW driven by Lester Stansberry, 40, of Rome, was southbound on Ga. 101 on the morning of Dec. 20 when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2013 Toyota driven by Lee Smith, 62, of Rome.
Both drivers were taken to Floyd Medical Center where a hospital spokesman said both were in critical condition last week after the collision.
Floyd County police spokesman Jerome Poole said officers have not been able to determine what may have caused Stansberry to cross over the center line a few minutes after 7 a.m.
The wreck tied up traffic near Pleasant Valley Road intersection for close to an hour.
