Ap­pli­ca­tions for will be taken start­ing Tues­day, Jan. 9, 2018, for as­sis­tance with power bills from the Rock­mart-Aragon United Fund in the Rock­mart Mu­nic­i­pal Com­plex at 214 N. Pied­mont Ave., Rock­mart, from open­ing hours un­til 2 p.m. Only those Rock­martarea (in­clud­ing Aragon and East Polk County) Ge­or­gia Power cus­tomers seek­ing help can ap­ply, and are re­quired to bring their most re­cent power bill and so­cial se­cu­rity cards for all mem­bers of a house­hold in­clud­ing chil­dren. Ap­pli­cants must show up in per­son to re­quest in­for­ma­tion and fill out forms. Bills must be 10 days past due and have at least two charges on them be­fore be­ing con­sid­ered. Rules and guide­lines will be fol­lowed, and there is no guar­an­tee of help for Rock­mart cus­tomers, but the or­ga­ni­za­tion will con­sider all ap­pli­cants from Rock­mart.

On Satur­day, Jan. 6, Keep Polk Beau­ti­ful invites every­one to bring their Christ­mas tree to the Polk/ Har­al­son Chris­tian Cen­ter at 3900 An­ti­och Road, Cedar­town, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tree seedlings, free flower pack­ets, and a free pet­ting zoo pro­vided by The Cook Farm will be on site for the event.

On Nov. 1, 2017, Tal­la­toona CAP will be­gin ac­cept­ing ap­point­ments for the Low In­come Home En­ergy As­sis­tance Pro­gram (LIHEAP) for Se­nior House­holds 65 and older and Home­bound House­holds. Ap­point­ments for the Gen­eral Pub­lic will be ac­cepted be­gin­ning Dec. 1, 2017. Ap­point­ments are pro­vided on a first come first served ba­sis un­til funds are ex­hausted.
