Mark your cal­en­dars now for the up­com­ing Cedar Val­ley Arts Fes­ti­val or­ga­nized by the Cedar­town Ju­nior Ser­vice League in Peek Park on Satur­day, April 28 and Sun­day, April 29. The fes­ti­val opens with an 8 a. m. 5K Run and Road Race, and then con­tin­ues from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Satur­day, and Sun­day 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the 2 p.m. dog show. Com­mu­nity Good Fri­day and Com­mu­nion Ser­vice will be held at Lime Branch Bap­tist Church, High­way 100, Cedar­town on Fri­day, March 30 at 6:30 pm. Mu­sic will be pro­vided by the church choirs and drama teams. Rev. Roger Kiser will bring the Good Fri­day mes­sage. There will be a fel­low­ship meal af­ter the ser­vice. The Good Fri­day ser­vice is spon­sored jointly by Lime Branch Bap­tist Church and Pine Bower Bap­tist Church. Ev­ery­one is in­vited to at­tend.

Anna Kresge United Methodist Church will host a Maundy Thurs­day live reen­act­ment ser­vice on Thurs­day evening at 7 p.m. Those par­tic­i­pat­ing have been in­volved in a Bible study and have been keep­ing their groom­ing to a min­i­mum to make the event more re­al­is­tic.

The Polk County His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety is hold­ing a yard sale fundraiser for the or­ga­ni­za­tion and the re­mod­el­ing of the for­mer First Na­tional Bank build­ing to re­lo­cate the mu­seum. Take part in the sec­ond sale tak­ing place Thurs­day, April 5 from 3 to 6 p.m., and Fri­day and Satur­day, April 5 and April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join Pine Bower Bap­tist Church for their an­nual Easter Egg Hunt and Cook­out this Satur­day, March 31 at 4 p.m. Fun for all ages. Pas­tor Roger Kiser in­vites ev­ery­one to at­tend.

Get your child en­rolled in the Polk School Dis­trict Pre-K or Kinder­garten classes in the com­ing days in the Rock­mart area. This week, Cedar­town First United Methodist in­vites the com­mu­nity to take part in their cel­e­bra­tion of Holy Week for Easter. On Thurs­day, Easter ser­vices be­gin with a Maundy Thurs­day Wor­ship Ser­vice & Holy Com­mu­nion be­ing held on at 7 p.m., fol­lowed by an Easter sun­rise ser­vice in Peek Park at 7 a.m., and the church’s an­nual cel­e­bra­tion dur­ing their 11 a.m. ser­vice at the church.

Bel­lview Bap­tist Church will hold sev­eral Easter ser­vices. Mem­bers and the com­mu­nity are in­vited next Fri­day to par­tic­i­pate in the Good Fri­day ser­vice at 7 p.m., fol­lowed by two ser­vices on Easter Sun­day. Pleas­ant Hill Bap­tist Church at 844 Pleas­ant Hill Road, Rock­mart, will be host­ing a “Do­na­tion Hobo Sup­per” on Satur­day, April 7 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the church fel­low­ship hall. Menu con­sists of as­sorted beans, fried po­ta­toes, slaw, corn­bread, as­sorted desserts and a va­ri­ety of bev­er­ages. Pro­ceeds will go to the church build­ing fund.

Reg­is­tra­tion is open now for the Rock­mart Cul­tural Arts Com­mis­sion’s sum­mer camps. The first for grades K-5 will fea­ture “Win­nie the Pooh” on June 6 through June 15, fol­lowed by a camp for grades 6-12 for “Bye, Bye, Birdie” on June 18 through June 29. Join the Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 12 for their up­com­ing monthly Spaghetti din­ner on April 18. Din­ner is held from 5 to 7 p.m. and in­cludes spaghetti, meat­balls, gar­lic toast and salad. All you can eat for $5. All pro­ceeds are do­na­tions to vet­eran and chil­dren char­i­ties.

The Good Neigh­bor Cen­ter Food Bank in Cedar­town is look­ing for vol­un­teers to help once a week on Mon­day’s from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Wed­nes­days from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vol­un­teers must be at least 18 years old and will help with event tasks such as reg­is­ter­ing re­cip­i­ents, pre­par­ing food boxes and stock­ing shelves.
