Easton Utilities to conduct smoke testing around Easton

The Star Democrat - - LOCAL -

EASTON — Easton Utilities will conduct sanitary sewer smoke testing in the areas/subdivisions of Lakelands, Easton Village, Cooke’s Hope, Easton Club, Papermill Crossing and Technology Center.

The work will commence in the first location on Monday, Oct. 31, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and continue through December. An informative door hanger will be delivered to each property at least 24 hours in ad- vance of the testing being conducted. If you see or smell smoke in your structure, immediately report it by calling 410-822-6110. The smoke is gray in color and has a faint smell of petroleum.

Smoke testing is performed pe- riodically to help identify areas where unauthorized water is entering the sanitary sewer system. During the testing, a non-toxic smoke is forced into the sewer lines — an efficient and costeffective way to locate the areas with an issue, according to Easton Utilities.

More detailed information on Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing can be found at www.eastonutilities. com/smoke-testing or by calling customer service at 410-822-6110.
