Cor­den joins pe­di­atric prac­tice

EAS­TON — Joe Shee­han pres­i­dent and CEO of Chop­tank Com­mu­nity Health; has an­nounced that ef­fec­tive Oct. 3, 2016, Dr. Brian Cor­den has joined the or­ga­ni­za­tion as a pe­di­atric provider.

Af­ter 22 years of pri­vate prac­tice in Eas­ton, 18 years as a solo prac­ti­tioner, Cor­den de­cided to make a change in his prac­tice model to be­come a prac­ti­tioner with one of the largest health care provider groups on the Mid-Shore.

Cor­den grad­u­ated from Ge­orge­town Univer­sity School of Medicine and holds a PH.D from Brown Univer­sity, as well as a chem­istry de­gree from Ge­orge­town Univer­sity.

Cor­den spent sev­eral years prac­tic­ing in the pe­di­atric on­col­ogy field and served as fac­ulty with Ge­orge­town Univer­sity School of Medicine, Univer­sity of Ten­nessee School of Medicine, Johns Hop­kins School of Medicine, the Univer­sity of New Mex­ico School of Medicine and Emory Univer­sity School of Medicine. Cor­den served as a mem­ber of the U.S. Pub­lic Health Ser­vice for more than 23 years.

Cor­den will re­main in his cur­rent lo­ca­tion along with key staff per­son­nel, and will con­tinue to care for pa­tients as he has been, but now will have the ad­di­tional sup­port of highly qual­i­fied col­leagues to pro­vide ad­di­tional cov­er­age.

Since 1980, Chop­tank Health has pro­vided pri­mary and preven­tive med­i­cal and den­tal care to the res­i­dents of the Mid -Shore. Com­mu­nity Health Cen­ters, also known as Fed­er­ally Qual­i­fied Health Cen­ters are non- profit, com­mu­nity- di­rected health care providers. Across the na­tion, over 1,300 com­mu­nity health cen­ters serve more than 22 mil­lion Amer­i­cans in over 9,000 ser­vice de­liv­ery sites, play­ing a unique and vi­tal role in the U. S. health care sys­tem.

Cor­den said, “I strongly be­lieve in the Com­mu­nity Health Cen­ter phi­los­o­phy, that health­care should be avail­able to ev­ery­one.”

Cor­den said he val­ues his pa­tients and feels con­fi­dent that pa­tients and fam­i­lies will ben­e­fit from the many ad­di­tional ser­vices that will be avail­able to them as part of the Chop­tank Health or­ga­ni­za­tion.

Cor­den and staff will to as­sist their pa­tients in the tran­si­tion process.
