LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Dear Mr. President
I voted for you because too many illegal immigrants were taking jobs from our citizens, too many illegal immigrants who committed crimes were not being deported, because of our onesided agreement with Iran, because we were not being respected by a number of countries including our allies, and because the prior administration was not respecting our staunch ally — Israel.
At the outset of the election process, I doubt that you seriously thought you would win the election. However, you were elected president and as such, you should serve in the most important position in the world with dignity and class. Yes, you have been the subject of relentless attacks and insults because so many people cannot accept the fact that you defeated the establishment, the press, and Hollywood, although who really cares what Hollywood thinks.
You need to rise above that criticism and should not respond to comments made by the press, by television hosts and entertainers. Responding with petty insults in an attempt to make yourself look better is degrading and demeaning to the office of the presidency of the United States. You should focus on running this country with all of its problems. You should discontinue your tweets for public consumption or at a minimum, they should be filtered.
You need to listen to your military advisors and follow their advice based on their many years of experience in the military. Making statements that are inconsistent with the statements of your secretary of defense and secretary of state send the message that you are not on the same page with your cabinet members and that there is instability within your Administration. Your position on Cuba is the right one based on the continued human rights violations in that country.
President Obama’s statement that global warming was a greater threat than terrorism was indeed illadvised and you were right to pull out of the Paris Climate Agreement as we were paying far too much toward the expenses of something that controversial. However, any favorable actions taken by you are undermined by your uncalled-for remarks on Twitter and in some of your other public statements.
Please act presidentially. Work on the things you were elected to do: the infrastructure, taxes, healthcare, trade agreements and terrorism.
