Tickets on sale for Nov. 3 CASA of Caroline fundraiser
DENTON — CASA of Caroline will host its fundraiser, Making a Difference — Through the Eyes of a Child, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at Choptank Visitors and Heritage Center in Denton.
Tickets are $50, and may be purchased at www.carolinecasa.org. The Chesapeake Culinary Center will be catering the event, and beer and wine is included in the ticket price. A Chinese auction also will be held.
The event features the photo project, Through the Eyes of a Child, on display with photos taken by the children CASA of Caroline helps in court.
“We can’t have the children there to tell their story, but we wanted to tell their story through photos they have taken,” said CASA Outreach Coordinator Chandler Johnson. “We will have them displayed throughout the space for folks to look at. This is a unique way for the community to get to know who we are serving in our community.
“We really want to emphasize we are all about serving the child,” Johnson said. “It is our mission that their voices are heard. We want to show the community their story.”
CASA of Caroline began as a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for someone to watch out for the best interest of children in foster care. CASA of Caroline became operational in September 2003 under Circuit Court Judge J. Owen Wise. The organization remains committed to assuring that abused and neglected children are heard and provided with one consistent presence in their lives, a CASA advocate.
