Simpatico to celebrate Columbus
ST. MICHAELS — Simpatico, Italy’s Finest, will celebrate Christopher Columbus the weekend after his holiday with its ninth annual “Simpatico’s Italian Fall Wine & Food Celebration at St. Michaels” from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13.
The event will be held rain or shine in the tented lot “piazza” adjacent to Simpatico at 104 Railroad Ave.
It will feature the following activities at a cost of $35 per person (kids free):
• Italian wine and spirits tastings
• Italian food
• Artisan cheese tastings
• Live Italian music
• Italian trivia and past game
• Meet Columbus and hear about his adventures in exploration, and have your picture taken with him
• Special pricing promotions for wines and other items in the shop.

Simpatico is a locally owned, independent retailer and wholesaler specializing in exclusively made-in-Italy items. Fall store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Thirty people packed into the meeting room at the St. Michaels Town Office while an estimated 70 waited outside. More than a hundred people showed up for the Board of Zoning Appeals hearing on the development of a new gas station complex where the old St. Michaels Citgo is now.
