Chesapeake to kick off 2nd Saturday season
— Celebrate Second Saturday at the Chesapeake College Cambridge Center on Saturday, Oct. 13, with an exhibit opening and community reception from 5 to 6:30 pm in the Leggett Gallery at 418 Race St.
Chesapeake will kick off its 2018-19 Second Saturday participation with a special event. President Cliff Coppersmith and interim Cambridge Center dDirector Amber McGinnis will host the event, which is free and open to the community.
The event also will mark the opening of a new exhibit in the Leggett Gallery featuring the work of acclaimed photographer Bill Whaley.
Whaley, an East New Market resident, has traveled the globe photographing the people and places in many countries. His favorite photos, however, continue to result from his travels around the Delmar va Peninsula. His photo “Puffin at Rest” received a first-place award in the Ward Museum of Waterfowl Art 2017 Competition.
This exhibit features local scenes of the wildlife, lighthouses, beaches and people who make this region special.
Guitarist Quinn Parsley and several of his students will provide live music during the event.
Refreshments for the reception will be provided by The Wine Bar.
