Kent cen­tral com­mit­tee seek­ing fe­male ap­pli­cants

CH­ESTER­TOWN — Pur­suant to the by­laws of the Mary­land Demo­cratic Party, the Kent County Cen­tral Com­mit­tee must ap­point one fe­male mem­ber in or­der to achieve an equal num­ber of men and women on the com­mit­tee, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.

Ap­pli­cants are en­cour­aged to sub­mit their ré­sumé and a brief state­ment of why they are in­ter­ested in join­ing the cen­tral com­mit­tee to Pam White, chair­per­son, at plwhite53@gmail. com, or Erik Gul­brand­sen, trea­surer, at et­gul­brand­sen@gmail.com, no later than Nov. 27.

The com­mit­tee will re­view all ap­pli­ca­tions and vote on nom­i­nees on Dec. 4.

Qual­i­fied ap­pli­cants must be fe­male res­i­dents of Kent County who are reg­is­tered Democrats and will­ing to vol­un­teer time to sup­port the party and its can­di­dates, ac­cord­ing to the news re­lease.

Ap­pointed mem­bers are af­forded equal sta­tus to elected mem­bers.

The Kent County Demo­cratic Cen­tral Com­mit­tee meets on the first Tues­day of each month at 357 High St., Ch­ester­town.

In ad­di­tion to reg­u­lar meet­ing at­ten­dance, cen­tral com­mit­tee mem­bers are ex­pected to par­tic­i­pate in cam­paign, out­reach and fundrais­ing ac­tiv­i­ties, and to at­tend quar­terly meet­ings of the Mary­land Demo­cratic Party.

Mem­bers serve a fouryear term end­ing af­ter the gu­ber­na­to­rial pri­mary elec­tion in 2022, and pe­ri­od­i­cally are re­quired to nom­i­nate in­di­vid­u­als to fill va­can­cies in elected and ap­pointed of­fices.
