Kent central committee seeking female applicants
CHESTERTOWN — Pursuant to the bylaws of the Maryland Democratic Party, the Kent County Central Committee must appoint one female member in order to achieve an equal number of men and women on the committee, according to a news release.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their résumé and a brief statement of why they are interested in joining the central committee to Pam White, chairperson, at plwhite53@gmail. com, or Erik Gulbrandsen, treasurer, at email@example.com, no later than Nov. 27.
The committee will review all applications and vote on nominees on Dec. 4.
Qualified applicants must be female residents of Kent County who are registered Democrats and willing to volunteer time to support the party and its candidates, according to the news release.
Appointed members are afforded equal status to elected members.
The Kent County Democratic Central Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 357 High St., Chestertown.
In addition to regular meeting attendance, central committee members are expected to participate in campaign, outreach and fundraising activities, and to attend quarterly meetings of the Maryland Democratic Party.
Members serve a fouryear term ending after the gubernatorial primary election in 2022, and periodically are required to nominate individuals to fill vacancies in elected and appointed offices.
