By almost any reckoning, this new episode’s featured artist, Janelle Monae, would be considered “a lot,” in the sense that she seems to do nothing by half-measures. The Atlanta-based multi-hyphenate has a successful modeling career, as well as serious cred as an actress, having starred in two iconic 2016 dramas, “Hidden Figures” and “Moonlight.” This appearance spotlights her growing reputation as a musical artist, most likely drawing from her third studio album, “Dirty Computer,” which dropped last April.
