Patricia A. "Pat" Speth
MARION – It is with great sadness that the family of Pat Speth, age 62, announces her death on November 8, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, after a brief battle with cancer.
Pat was born on April 5, 1956, in Marion, SC, to the late Charlie and Betty (Williams) Speth. She received both her B.A. and J.D. degrees from Duke University. She moved to New York City, where she practiced entertainment law and loved every exciting minute of living in the Big Apple.
She then moved home and began practicing law
g p g with her father at Speth and Speth, P.A., in Marion, SC. Pat was Marion’s Municipal Trial Judge, presiding over summary court hearings until her illness. Pat was also an entrepreneur, selling Aloette cosmetics, clothing, and jewelry.
Pat was raised in both Marion and Murrells Inlet, SC, where she had a second home and so loved her dock. Pat loved life and life loved her, filling her with joy and happiness, as well as those around her.
Pat is survived by her brother, Charles T. “Ted” Speth and his wife, Sally, of Columbia and St. Matthews, SC; her much loved niece, Anna Mauldin Speth of Santa Monica, CA; and her beloved dogs, Joey, Zoey, and Judge. She is also survived by aunts and uncle, Jean Waters of Florence, SC, Nancy Johnson of Saluda, NC, Jake and Dot Williams of Saluda and Mooresville, NC; and many cousins and friends, especially the Girls Night Out group.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 307 E. Godbold Street, Marion, SC, with a visitation following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Pat to support the Flora K.
