MAR­ION – It is with great sad­ness that the fam­ily of Pat Speth, age 62, an­nounces her death on Novem­ber 8, 2018, at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC, af­ter a brief bat­tle with can­cer.

Pat was born on April 5, 1956, in Mar­ion, SC, to the late Char­lie and Betty (Wil­liams) Speth. She re­ceived both her B.A. and J.D. de­grees from Duke Univer­sity. She moved to New York City, where she prac­ticed en­ter­tain­ment law and loved ev­ery ex­cit­ing minute of liv­ing in the Big Ap­ple.

She then moved home and be­gan prac­tic­ing law

g p g with her fa­ther at Speth and Speth, P.A., in Mar­ion, SC. Pat was Mar­ion’s Mu­nic­i­pal Trial Judge, pre­sid­ing over sum­mary court hear­ings un­til her ill­ness. Pat was also an en­tre­pre­neur, sell­ing Aloette cos­met­ics, cloth­ing, and jewelry.

Pat was raised in both Mar­ion and Mur­rells In­let, SC, where she had a se­cond home and so loved her dock. Pat loved life and life loved her, fill­ing her with joy and hap­pi­ness, as well as those around her.

Pat is sur­vived by her brother, Charles T. “Ted” Speth and his wife, Sally, of Columbia and St. Matthews, SC; her much loved niece, Anna Mauldin Speth of Santa Mon­ica, CA; and her beloved dogs, Joey, Zoey, and Judge. She is also sur­vived by aunts and un­cle, Jean Wa­ters of Florence, SC, Nancy John­son of Saluda, NC, Jake and Dot Wil­liams of Saluda and Mooresville, NC; and many cousins and friends, es­pe­cially the Girls Night Out group.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice will be held on Tues­day, Novem­ber 13, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 307 E. God­bold Street, Mar­ion, SC, with a vis­i­ta­tion fol­low­ing. In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily re­quests that do­na­tions be made in me­mory of Pat to sup­port the Flora K.
