“Kathleen Brennan's large and diverse body of photographic work reflects the life of a self-directed woman who has followed her heart and connected the threads of her experience to enrich and intensify her vision. The awards, accolades, and recognition her work engenders today are the result of a long and remarkable journey.” — Remarkable Women of Taos
From an early age she was drawn to visual art and began photographing seriously at the age of 15, using an old range finder camera. In 1973, Brennan moved to Albuquerque where she completed a degree in photography from the University of New Mexico. Soon after she began experimenting with a variety of techniques, including hand-colored photographs, Polaroid transfers and cyanotypes.
Her love of New Mexico returned her to Taos in 1992 where she now resides. In 2002 she made the leap to digital and has applied the same sense of experimentation and use of alternative techniques.
