Man arrested for absconding with ambulance in Taos
Taos Police arrested a man Friday night (Aug. 24) after he allegedly stole an ambulance outside of Holy Cross Hospital and drove it to a couple of local businesses.
Police say James Michael Cox, 28, took the ambulance truck from outside of the emergency room entrance at Holy Cross Hospital about 9:30 p.m. Friday. Cox had been driven by ambulance to the hospital earlier in the evening from Taos Mesa Brewery, according to police, though the nature of his medical condition requiring emergency transport is unknown at this time.
Cox was charged with two counts of resisting, both misdemeanors, and one count of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. A preliminary examination has been scheduled in the case Sept. 12 before Taos Magistrate Judge Jeffrey Shannon.
