Nine fugitives arrested by Taos County Sheriff ’s Office, Parole Office
Nine people were arrested Wednesday (Aug. 22) in a fugitive roundup by the Taos County Sherriff ’s Office and the Adult Probation and Parole Office.
Among those arrested in the all-day operation were Juan Tejada, 30; Manuel Carrillo-Medina, 46; Edmundo Rios, 26; Derrick Guzman, 32; Crystal Martinez, 20; John Montoya,
61; Santana Cisneros, 20; Michael Romero, 32; and
25-year-old Elayne Medina, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
When officers took Medina and Romero into custody at a residence on Straight Arrow Road, they located firearms. Officers obtained a search warrant for additional weapons and drugs.
After serving the search warrant Wednesday evening, officers found six firearms as well as suspected drugs commonly known as magic mushrooms at the house. “Because one of the firearms was a loaded sawed-off shotgun the ATF (federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) has been contacted and may take additional charges,” according to a statement from the Taos County Sheriff’s Office.
“Operations like this usually round up several fugitive/absconders, and we are glad to work with the APPO office to keep our community safer,” said Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe in a statement.
