Peñasco woodcutters cut short
The Carson National Forest continues to struggle with staffing, and woodcutters could feel the effects right when most are eagerly trying to store up for the winter.
The Camino Real Ranger District, headquartered in Peñasco, will not be able to sell firewood permits for the coming week (Oct. 5-12) due to short staffing, according to a press release from the forest. Permits are on sale at the supervisor’s office in Taos in the meantime. Luckily, permit sales will resume Oct. 15, according to the Forest Service.
