Peñasco wood­cut­ters cut short

The Car­son Na­tional For­est con­tin­ues to strug­gle with staffing, and wood­cut­ters could feel the ef­fects right when most are ea­gerly try­ing to store up for the win­ter.

The Camino Real Ranger Dis­trict, head­quar­tered in Peñasco, will not be able to sell fire­wood per­mits for the com­ing week (Oct. 5-12) due to short staffing, ac­cord­ing to a press re­lease from the for­est. Per­mits are on sale at the su­per­vi­sor’s of­fice in Taos in the mean­time. Luck­ily, per­mit sales will re­sume Oct. 15, ac­cord­ing to the For­est Ser­vice.
