Republicans lost their moral compass long ago

One thing the Kavanaugh hearings have revealed to the American people is an unflinching look at how utterly depraved and corrupt Republican leaders, such as Grassley, Hatch, Graham and McConnell truly are.

Is it any wonder the Republicans continue to allow a tyrant like Trump to occupy the “White” House? They have much in common with him, showing a tolerance for sexual assault, misogyny, racism and dishonesty that is off the charts even by far-right standards. The GOP now stands for “grand old perverts.”

They all continue to claim Kavanaugh is the victim here, not the women who testified or gave depositions that they were attacked. Lindsey Graham has lost any vestige of dignity and authority he might have wielded as John McCain’s friend when he claims this is a smear campaign orchestrated by the Democratic Party. They continue to claim no evidence substantiates the depraved character of this “grown-up” frat boy as if the FBI report has an ounce of validity other than to cover up his many misdeeds as a youth and well into his recent activities, which includes lying to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Let me tell you what I know, (as an observer), about Dr. Christine Blasey Ford’s credible testimony. I know when the event occurred, according to “Bart’s” own calendar, which described a beer bust on Friday, June 1, 1982 at which the people Dr. Ford described as present were mentioned.

When the prosecutor at the hearing began an inquiry into the event, the Republicans interrupted with Graham’s outburst and the prosecutor’s immediate dismissal. That date corresponds with Ford’s reported sighting of Mark Judge, Kavenaugh’s friend, at a local grocery store at which he was working a few weeks later. Judge wrote about a deranged “black out” puking drunk in his memoir named “Bart O’Kavanaugh,” an obvious reference to Kavanaugh. Kavanaugh himself confirms this in his description of he and his friends as “loud obnoxious drunks with profound pukers” in a letter he signed as “Bart” Kavanaugh.

As far as we know, the FBI did not interview any of the eight witnesses Ford described, nor did they interview Ford, her husband or her therapist, all of whom were told her story as early as 2012. The FBI chose not to interview accuser, Deborah Ramirez or the 20 corroborative witnesses she mentioned. The FBI did not interview Kavanaugh. The FBI did not examine damning testimony from Julie Swetnick about the drugging of young women with quaaludes. The FBI chose not to interview “Bart’s” college roommate, James Roche, who claims Kavanaugh lied under oath. Corroborating evidence from classmates Dr. Elizabeth Swisher, Lynne Brookes, Adela Gilda Mazzon, Rebecca White and Kenneth G. Appold all was ignored.

Troubling as this information is, the one thing that should have defeated Kavanaugh’s nomination is his documented record as a liar. The Republicans have long ago surrendered any pretense of morality when they enthusiastically embraced the lie as a legitimate political strategy. Kavanaugh is their boy.

When he claims Ms. Ford did not run in his circle, he ignores that she dated his dear friend “Sqee.” The “devil’s triangle” refers to sex between two men and a woman. It is not a drinking game as Kavenaugh told Congress. “Bart” has lied under oath about stolen e-mails in 2003, 2006 and 2018. He has lied about his role in the spurious investigations into the Clintons. He has lied about his role in the George W. Bush administration concerning torture, warrantless wiretapping and his role in shepherding unqualified nominations into office.

The Republicans have long ago lost their moral compass. They have embraced trickery, intrigue, deviousness, deceit, deception, dishonesty, cheating, duplicity, guile, cunning, chicanery, pretense and fraud as legitimate political strategy, and worse, as legitimate American values.

They have embraced this Trump administration and in doing so, have followed a treasonous path that has surrendered our country to an inferior foreign entanglement headed by a former KGB agent by the name of Putin. This is what happens when a nation’s leaders put profit and power before the well-being of its citizens. Yes, Kavanaugh is their boy and Trump is their leader.
