2018 MACON, GA- Mary Palmer Smallwood passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 of natural causes at the age of 97. ACelebration of her Life will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.at Lizella Baptist Church. Burial will be inMacon Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. ChrisMinton officiating. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service. While flowers will be accepted, thosewhowish, maymake amemorial contribution to the Lizella Baptist Church Building Fund, 2950 S. Lizella Road, Lizella, GA 31052.
Honorary Pallbearers will be HaroldMaynard, Joe Defore, Jimmy Sharp, and Bill Sanders.
Mrs. Smallwood was born in Macon to the lateW.C. Palmer andNaomi Rustin Palmer and lived inMacon all her life. She retired fromSouthern Bell Telephone Company and was a lifemember of theTelephone Pioneers.
Marywasamember of Lizella Baptist Church where shewas a former Sunday School Teacher and was very active in many areas of the church. She also worked with the Senior AdultChoir and was a past president of the Golden Fellowship. She was an accomplished churchmusician formore than 60 years, 35 of whichwere at LizellaBaptist Church. Mary played for many weddings and funerals. Through the years she served in several Baptist churches in theMacon Baptist Association. She lovedmusic and always enjoyed playing and sharing her talents with others.
Shewas the devotedwife of 55 years to her late husband WilliamJoe Smallwood.
She was preceded in death by one son, Clarence William(Billy) Smallwood and grandson, WilliamBryant (Billy) Smallwood, sister, Louise Palmer Davis, sister, Helen Palmer Kilzer.
She is survived by one son, Barry (Donna) Smallwood of Macon, two granddaughters, Holly (Shawn) Reynolds of Braselton, GA, and Kristi (Jonathon) Wagner of Hoschton, GA, step grandson, Chase (Connie) Brown of Cokeburg, PA. She is also survived by four great grandsons, Hudson, Maddox, and Braxton Reynolds of Braselton, KiptonWagner of Hoschton, two step great granddaughters, Caroline and Catherine Brown of Cokeburg, and several nieces and nephews.
