John Bro­gan of New Cum­ber­land

John C. “Jack” Bro­gan, 87, of New Cum­ber­land, died Sun­day, Jan. 26, 2014, in his res­i­dence.

He was a re­tired, self­em­ployed con­sul­tant in struc­tural engineering, re­spon­si­ble for de­sign­ing well over $500 mil­lion in build­ings and other mis­cel­la­neous con­struc­tion projects in the com­mon­wealth and through­out the United States. Jack earned his B.S. in civil engineering from The Penn­syl­va­nia State Univer­sity in 1950 and re­mained an avid Penn State foot­ball fan.

Ad­di­tion­ally, he was a mem­ber of St. Theresa Ro­man Catholic Church, New Cum­ber­land.

Jack was born in Hazel­ton to the late Robert and Ida (Wal­dron) Bro­gan.

He is sur­vived by his wife of more than 67 years, Philom­ena “Mena” (Pape) Bro­gan; his daugh­ter, Jack­lyn Mad­sen of Mount Joy; his son, Dr. Don­ald R. Bro­gan, and wife Dr. Clara Tibur­cio/ Bro­gan of Col­legeville; his brother, Richard Bro­gan of Myr­tle Beach, S.C.; six grand­chil­dren and five great grand­chil­dren. Mass of Chris­tian burial will be cel­e­brated at 11 a.m. on Satur­day, Feb. 1, 2014, at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cum­ber­land, with the Rev. J. Michael McFad­den, his pas­tor, as cel­e­brant. Burial will be in Ha­zle­ton. There will be no view­ing or visi­ta­tion.
