Blanche Satterwhite of Nor­ris­town

Blanche Satterwhite (Ed­wards), age 82, of Nor­ris­town, died Thurs­day, Jan. 23, 2014, at Dresher Hill Nurs­ing Home in Fort Wash­ing­ton.

She was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Nor­ris­town, Pa., and was the daugh­ter of the late Judge L. and Ad­die (McFar­land) Ed­wards. She was ed­u­cated in the Nor­ris­town School Dis­trict and com­pleted her ed­u­ca­tion in the New York school sys­tem. Upon grad­u­at­ing from high school, she ob­tained her nurs­ing de­gree and li­cense from the state of New York and worked for over 40 years as a reg­is­tered nurse. She was a mem­ber of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Nor­ris­town. Al­ways will­ing to lend a help­ing hand, she as­sisted with com­mu­nity po­lit­i­cal or­ga­ni­za­tions and the lo­cal YMCA and was known for her care of chil­dren and the el­derly. She served as Wor­thy Ma­tron of Mount Pis­gah Chap­ter #85 of the or­der of the East­ern Star.

She was the wife of the late Ulysses Satterwhite.

Sur­viv­ing are her de­voted daugh­ter, Odessa Satterwhite; daugh­ter-in-law Linda Satterwhite; two grand­chil­dren; five great­grand­chil­dren; nephew Phillip Ed­wards and fam­ily; Candice Ca­pers and fam­ily; a cousin, Queen Es­ther Man­ning-Gor­don; and other lov­ing fam­ily mem­bers and friends.

Fu­neral ser­vices are go­ing to be held Satur­day, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, 234 E. Spruce St., Nor­ris­town. Friends may call from 8:30-10 a.m. at the church. In­ter­ment will be in River­side Ceme­tery, W. Nor­ri­ton, Pa.
