Blanche Satterwhite of Norristown
Blanche Satterwhite (Edwards), age 82, of Norristown, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at Dresher Hill Nursing Home in Fort Washington.
She was born Oct. 16, 1931, in Norristown, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Judge L. and Addie (McFarland) Edwards. She was educated in the Norristown School District and completed her education in the New York school system. Upon graduating from high school, she obtained her nursing degree and license from the state of New York and worked for over 40 years as a registered nurse. She was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church in Norristown. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she assisted with community political organizations and the local YMCA and was known for her care of children and the elderly. She served as Worthy Matron of Mount Pisgah Chapter #85 of the order of the Eastern Star.
She was the wife of the late Ulysses Satterwhite.
Surviving are her devoted daughter, Odessa Satterwhite; daughter-in-law Linda Satterwhite; two grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; nephew Phillip Edwards and family; Candice Capers and family; a cousin, Queen Esther Manning-Gordon; and other loving family members and friends.
Funeral services are going to be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m. at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, 234 E. Spruce St., Norristown. Friends may call from 8:30-10 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, W. Norriton, Pa.
