Women’s Soccer

Gwynedd Mercy University senior Sarah Nedwick, a North Penn grad, received honorable mention All-CSAC recognitio­n. It is her first allleague honor. She has six goals and three assists. Hopkins recorded 11 saves in net in Gwynedd Mercy’s 4-2 loss at top-seeded Marywood in a CSAC Tournament semifinal contest. In Gwynedd’s 2-1 win over Neumann in a first round contest, freshman Victoria Braeunle, a North Penn grad, scored.

Cabrini senior Marisa Christense­n, a North Penn grad, earned All-CSAC first team honors. This is Christense­n’s first all-CSAC honor but was earned as the senior’s play at midfield helped the Cavs both offensivel­y and defensivel­y.

Kutztown junior Alyssa Ryan, a Wissahicko­n grad, was named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Two team. A team captain, she has earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete recognitio­n twice, has been a Dean’s List Honoree four times and a D2ADA Academic Achievemen­t Award winner. The Wissahicko­n graduate has totaled four goals and four assists this season and was named to the All-PSAC second team. The midfielder has started all 20 games and has played in 61 games throughout her career. Ryan is a Biology/Pre-Med major and holds a 3.89 GPA.

Kristina Miller, a North Penn grad, contribute­d an assist in Kutztown’s 2-1 loss to Notre Dame (OH) in the first round of the NCAA Atlantic Region Friday.

Vanderbilt freshman Maddie Elwell, a Wissahicko­n grad, played 24 minutes off the bench as the Commodores upset No. 4 seeded Ohio State 2-1 in the NCAA first round Friday.

Men’s Basketball

Kuttown’s redshirt junior Anthony Lee, an Abington grad, scored 34 points while hitting hit eight three-pointers in 135-80 win over Penn State Schuylkill Saturday. Senior captain Demetrius Bennett, a PW grad, had seven points, three rebounds and three assists and Joseph O’Brien, an Abington grad, added four points and two steals.

Women’s Basketball

Jefferson’s redshirt junior Erin Maher, from North Penn, scored 13 points in a 60-54 win over Queens Saturday afternoon.

Chestnut Hill senior guard Vicky Tumasz, a North Penn grad, recorded 11 points, three steals and six points in a 84-67 win over Queens College at the Jefferson Challenge Sunday. Saturday, Tumasz recorded a team-high 21 points. She also had four steals, four rebounds and went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in a 55-46 win over Molloy College.

Taylor Thames, a North Penn grad, scored six points in Kutztown’s 53-35 loss to Bowie State at Shippensbu­rg’s Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic Friday.

In Messiah’s 2-1 win over Alvernia to clinch the program’s 11th straight MAC Commonweal­th title, Souderton grad Shelby Landes made two saves.

West Chester junior goalkeeper Marissa Elizardo, a North Penn grad, was named the Athlete of the Week for the week ending Nov. 5. She played a crucial part in West Chester’s PSAC Tournament run. She contribute­d three shutouts. Elizardo’s effort is a primary reason why the Golden Rams were crowned the PSAC champions. The trio of shutouts came against No. 10 Bloomsburg in the quarterfin­als, No. 1 Shippensbu­rg in the semifinals and No. 2 East Stroudsbur­g in the final. She made a total of 11 saves for the Golden Rams to help earn the championsh­ip.

Elizardo recorded three saves in West Chester’s 3-0 win over No. 2 East Stroudsbur­g last Sunday. In West Chester’s 1-0 upset of No. 1 Shippensbu­rg, Elizardo recorded her fifth shutout of the season, recording five saves in 70 minutes. In West Chester’s 1-0 win over Bloomsburg, Elizardo recorded three saves.

Monmouth University senior Rachel Konowal ,a Plymouth Whitemarsh grad, was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference second team. A mainstay in the midfield for four years, Konowal earned the first allleague honor of her career. She had career highs in goals (7), assists (10) and points (24) as a senior. For her career, she has 10 goals, 18 assists and 38 points while recording two defensive saves as part of the defensive corner unit in 76 games. Konowal scored in Monmouth’s 2-0 win over Rider in the MAAC semifinal game.

Kutztown University senior Courtney Konowal ,a Plymouth Whitemarsh grad, completed her career with four consecutiv­e All-PSAC honors, the first Golden Bear to do that since the 2013 season. In her senior year, Konowal tallied three goals and three assists playing in both the midfield and forward positions. For her career, Konowal started all 73 games, racking up 12 goals and 12 assists.

Gwynedd Mercy University senior Abigail Gabriel ,a Souderton grad, was named to the All-CSAC second team. She had three goals and two assists and added a pair of defensive saves for her third all-league honor.

Gwynedd Mercy University senior Madison Reiss ,a Pennridge grad, earned AllCSAC honorable mention recognitio­n. It was her third all-conference nod. She has amassed five points on two goals and an assist along with two defensive saves and is a vital cog in the defense.

Men’s Golf

La Salle freshman David Kim, an Upper Dublin grad, shot a four-over par 74 to lead La Salle at the City Six Championsh­ips. He finished tied for second in the field at even par on the par-4 holes.

Women’s Volleyball

Cabrini freshman Steph Judkins, a Pennridge grad, was named Mid-Atlantic Region Freshman of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-Mid-Atlantic Team. Judkins was named Colonial States Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Year after leading the Cavaliers and the CSAC with 427 kills. The freshman ranks 33rd in Division III in kills, and her 3.71 kills per set ranks 48th in the nation. Defensivel­y, Judkins had 285 digs to finish second on the team.

Women’s Tennis

Chestnut Hill sophomore Nicole Yang, from Wissahicko­n, was named to the 2017 CACC All-Academic Team. In order to be named to a CACC All-Academic Team, recipients must have participat­ed in a CACC-sponsored championsh­ip sport and must be at least a sophomore. The nominee must have been a student-athlete at their current school for at least two semesters and must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the preceding semester.

Men’s Swimming

Gettysburg sophomore Ogden Leyens, an Upper Dublin grad, finished third in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:56.83 in a doubledual meet Saturday. Gettysburg defeated Messiah 18279 and beat Susquehann­a 207-54.

Shippensbu­rg sophomore Jeff Beyer, a Wissahicko­n grad, finished first in the 500 free (4:45.18) and 1000 free (10:07.01) in a 105-100 loss to Clarion. Both were PSAC qualifying times. Beyer also was part of the first place 200 free relay (1:28.28).

Arcadia senior Jacob Schellinge­r, a North Penn grad, took third in both the 50 free (22.74) and 200 butterfly (2:04.01) in a 115-88 loss at Franklin & Marshall Friday night.

Ursinus junior Maxwell Coulter, a Pennridge grad, was part of the 200 medley relay that earned the silver medal with a time of 1:40.54 in a 57-38 win over McDaniel Saturday. Junior Thomas Bantley, an Upper Dublin grad, and sophomore Daniel Powell, a Central Bucks East grad, finished 2-3 in the 1000 free with Bantley (10:47.06) edging Powell (10:53.98).

West Chester sophomore Quinton Mitchell, a North Penn grad, finished first in the 3-meter diving championsh­ip with a score of 245.80 in a match against Rowan. He finished second in the one-meter event with a score of 258.15.

Bloomsburg sophomore Devon Polak, an Upper Dublin grad, was part of the 200 medley relay that finished second in a 128-76 win over Edinboro.

Women’s Swimming

La Salle’s Olivia DeStefano, a North Penn grad, highlighte­d a tri-meet with Rider and Delaware Saturday with three first place finishes. She took first in the 100 back, finishing in 58.06 seconds. She also won the 50 free, finishing in at 24.66 seconds. DeStefano was part of the 400 free relay team that placed first in 3:43.69 and the second place 200 medley relay that finished in 1:49.13. Sydney Szopo, an Upper Moreland grad, placed first in the one-meter diving event with a score of 250.00. She took second in the three-meter with a 229.70.
