Edward J. Durante of West Norriton

The Times Herald (Norristown, PA) - - OBITUARIES -

Edward J. “Duke” Durante, of West Norriton, passed away on November 11, 2017 at the age of 69. He was born on February 24, 1948 to the late Florence and Edward A. Durante in Norristown. Ed is survived by his children, who he shared with Candace Durante; Kira Jolles, Kori Springer (Chad), Kelly Knauf (Nicholas), Jaala Dellangelo (John), and Mallory Cooper (Corey). He is also survived by two grandchildren, Dylan Knauf and Dade Dellangelo. Ed is survived by his siblings David Durante and Ann Durante. He was predeceased by his brother William Durante.

Ed had an interest in how things work from a very young age, which impelled his mother to enroll him in an electronics course when he was around the age of 11. The only courses available were for adults and required him to take a train at night. His mother still enrolled him and waited for him in the back of the class while he learned. This curiosity carried on through his life as he became a man of many trades who loved to make and build models from scratch, fix anything electrical, woodworking as well as the occasional tinkering with his summer and winter Vette. He got the most joy out of hanging with his “extended” family as well as lending a helping hand whenever asked. Those close to him loved his company and enjoyed listening to his unique viewpoints on life, even if it meant enduring his dry, sarcastic humor from time to time. There will not be anyone who can replace him and he will be greatly missed.

A memorial service is being held for Ed on Sunday, November 19 at 5:30PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1120 Woodland Ave Norristown, PA 19403.

Family services entrusted to Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, (610) 277 7000.
