The impetus for the party is the synergy between several organizations, including executive recruiting firm Klein Hersh, positive media outlet MyNEWPhilly, and Audubon-based Navitas Marketing — Curators of Get To Know Montco, who all support BBBS as well as Philly’s favorite basketball team.
“A lot of us are big Sixers fans so we decided to do this fundraiser, and of course, Great American Pub was generous enough to give us the space at no cost, and a percentage of all beverages purchased will be donated back to the organization,” explained event organizer and Navitas Marketing Business Development Strategist Zack James.
After last year’s successful soiree which raised approximately $1,500 for the BBBS foundation, the group of sponsors, headed by Klein Hersh, which is providing food and entertainment, decided to do it again this year — only bigger and better.
“Last year’s event was awesome,” said James. “We had about 150 attendees and MyNEWPhilly — which produces the local flagship sports show Trust The Process Live — actually did a recap video. The great turnout encouraged us to do it again. And of course, it made sense to bring it back to the Great American Pub.”
James said last year’s event was held at the pub’s ballroom but this year, the event will take place in the Oak Room on the first floor, which features a massive central bar, pizza oven, and DJ.
“I love giving back,” James said. “And to able to do it where I’ve spent 25 of my 35 years is a blessing. So it means a lot to me that my board invested their time and energy and passion to this foundation. It’s just a really fun time for us all.”
