Af­ter be­ing di­ag­nosed with os­teosar­coma, a type of bone cancer, Bobby re­ceived mul­ti­ple blood trans­fu­sions. The blood he re­ceived from anony­mous donors granted him more time with fam­ily and friends dur­ing his three year bat­tle with the dis­ease. Bobby passed away in 2002, just 2 months be­fore his 18th birth­day. For the past 15 years, the Natal­ini Fam­ily has been host­ing a blood drive in honor of Bobby the day be­fore Thanks­giv­ing. Join us this year as we cel­e­brate Bobby with the 16th An­nual Blood drive in his honor at St. Ti­tus Church, 3006 Keen­wood Road, East Nor­ri­ton, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. of Christ 927 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown (cor­ner of Grace St. & N. Franklin St.). From 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the church’s Fel­low­ship Hall. There will be 13Pro­fes­sional Crafters sell­ing Gift Ideas; doll cloth­ing; Christ­mas or­na­ments; orig­i­nal jew­elry; home­made dog treats; wooden items; etc. There will be plants; raf­fle bas­kets with the win­ners picked at 1:30 p.m. (no need to be present to win). Nice items on the “White Ele­phant Ta­ble”. The bazaar fea­tures de­li­cious home­made baked goods such as cakes, pies, cup­cakes and can­dies. There will be a variety of cook­ies, in our “Cookie Walk” where you can choose your se­lec­tion and pay by the pound at $8. There will be break­fast sand­wiches; beef bar-bque; hot dogs; home­made soups to eat in or to take out. The fac­ulty and stu­dents from St. Joseph’s Univer­sity In­sti­tute for bioethics, the Sis­ters of Mercy Health Ser­vices and many oth­ers have been key play­ers in help­ing our parish with this im­por­tant out­reach as we have ex­panded the ser­vices pro­vided. Sev­eral of our own parish­ioners have been trained as health pro­mot­ers and do the screen­ing with the help of oth­ers. We are con­tin­u­ing to ex­pand the range of ser­vices to in­clude re­fer­rals to clin­ics. The goals of this ef­fort are to in­crease med­i­cal knowl­edge and care, to save lives and to en­able bet­ter use of hospi­tal re­sources. The fo­cus is on the un­der­served pop­u­la­tions near us, but we welcome all parish­ioners to come see what’s hap­pen­ing and see if there may be a role for you. LIT­ER­ACY COUN­CIL OF NOR­RIS­TOWN Are you look­ing for a mean­ing­ful vol­un­teer ex­pe­ri­ence, which will im­pact the lives of adult learn­ers and their fam­i­lies? If so, LCN needs you! LCN matches adult vol­un­teer tu­tors with other adults need­ing help with read­ing, writ­ing, math, GED prepa­ra­tion or English as a Sec­ond Lan­guage (ESL). Vol­un­teer tu­tors at­tend a 1.5 hour Ori­en­ta­tion and 12-hour Tu­tor Train­ing Work­shop be­fore be­ing matched with a stu­dent. The pair is then ex­pected to meet at a pub­lic place twice weekly for 1.5 hours per ses­sion for a min­i­mum of six months or un­til the stu­dent goal is met.
