Gateway seeks new mayor

GATEWAY — Gateway City Council will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, to review applications to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of Mayor Frank Hackler.

Hackler submitted his letter of resignation to the City Council at the regular meeting Aug. 9.

Stating personal reasons for his resignation, Hackler moved back to Louisiana, according to city officials.

Any one interested in serving the remainder of the mayor’s term may email a resume or letter stating reasons for wanting the position to cityofgateway@centurytell.net or mail it to Town of Gateway, P.O. Box 2, Gateway AR 72733.

Applicants must be a registered voter and a resident of Gateway for at least one year. The mayor must also be available to be at City Hall when needed.

Applicants will be accepted through Aug. 27, according to city clerk Sherry Robinette.
