Student’s success affected by many facets
Several studies have been conducted throughout the years about what can impact a student’s success in school. Positive authority figures, parental involvement and being involved in sports are a few examples of what has been linked to student success.
This year the AntiBullying Ambassadors are focusing their efforts on being positive leaders for other students. While participating in the antibullying training at the Child Advocacy Center, the ambassadors were asked to identify five positive and safe people they have in their life. Some admitted this could be a struggle for several of their peers. This led to the ambassadors to identify their first goal towards eliminating bullying; to be more supportive of other students.
Levi Peronia, a senior, expressed how he strives to be a leader and an individual at Pea Ridge High School. Levi admits he has a high level of confidence and demonstrates this daily at school by visiting several tables of students during lunch time and throughout the day. During the ambassador training, Levi reflected on his past experiences and how that drives him to be the outgoing and confident he is today, “Even when no one else believes, I somehow do.”
When addressing student success and engagement, having a positive experience with peers can have a significant impact on students. The Anti-Bullying Ambassadors are focused this school year on being positive leaders for their peers. Ambassadors are encouraged to step out of their own comfort zones and introduce themselves to new students everyday. By being friendly and welcoming, the ambassadors hope for this school year to be even better than before.
