Doris Lavon Arnold Moore

Doris Lavon Arnold Moore, 88, of Verona, Mo., died Sept. 3,

2017, at Cox Hos­pi­tal in Monett, Mo. She was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Har­man


Okla., to Roger Thur­man Sus­taire and Ethel Pearl Craven Sus­taire.

She was a home­maker and later worked as a cook for Bates Hos­pi­tal in Bentonville for 15 years. She en­joyed go­ing to Blue­grass fes­ti­vals, cro­chet­ing, sewing and can­ning veg­eta­bles and fruit. She was a mem­ber of East­side Church of Christ in Monett.

She was pre­ceded in death by her par­ents; her first hus­band, Jess Arnold; her sec­ond hus­band, Roy Moore; two broth­ers, Wil­liam and J. Sus­taire; three sis­ters, Velma Har­ris, Linda Jo Sus­taire and Mary Webb; a grand­son, Lester Arnold; and a great-grand­son Ry­der Har­mon.

Sur­vivors are five sons, Jess Arnold (Joy) of Pea Ridge, Danny Arnold (Linda) of Wil­son, Okla., John Arnold of Verona, Mo., and Joe Arnold, and Paul Arnold (Clau­dia), all of Pea Ridge; a daugh­ter, Mary Steele of Youngstown, Fla.; a brother, James Sus­taire of Salmon, Idaho; adopted son, David Cock­rell of Purdy, Mo.; 13 grand­chil­dren; 16 great-grand­chil­dren; and two great-great grand­chil­dren.

There is no vis­i­ta­tion sched­uled.

Grave­side ser­vice is set for 10 a.m. Thurs­day, Sept. 7, at Arnold Ceme­tery in Pea Ridge.

Mar­ion C. White­head

Mar­ion C. White­head, 86, of For­rest City, Ark., died early Satur­day, Sept. 2, 2017, in his home. He was born Jan. 29, 1931, to Mar­ion J. White­head and Iva J. Allen White­head in Wal­nut Ridge, Ark.

He was re­tired from Airtherm Cor­po­ra­tion and was a vet­eran of the United States Army. He was an avid out­doors­man, loved hunt­ing and fish­ing.

He mar­ried Pa­tri­cia A. Thomp­son in 1956.

He was pre­ceded in death by a grand­daugh­ter, Candice Hal­berth.

Sur­vivors are his wife, Pa­tri­cia A. Thomp­son; two daugh­ters, Cyn­thia A. Hal­bert and hus­band Claude and Carla J. Tow­ery, all of For­rest City; two sons, Mark J. White­head and wife Ruthanne of Bentonville and David W. White­head and wife Becky of Garfield, Ark.; three grand­chil­dren, Julie Hick­man and hus­band Casey, Chad Hal­bert and wife Meghan and Tif­fany White­head; and six great­grand­chil­dren. A grand­daugh­ter Candice Hal­bert pre­ceded him in death.

Vis­i­ta­tion was from 5 to 7 p.m. Mon­day at the fu­neral home.

Fu­neral ser­vices were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, in Stevens Fu­neral Home.

Burial fol­lowed in Bell Ceme­tery in Pales­tine, Ark.
