Union Ar­tillery demon­stra­tions

Learn the role ar­tillery played in the Bat­tle of Pea Ridge. The park will blank fire a re­pro­duc­tion Model 1841 6-pound gun be­hind the park vis­i­tor cen­ter. Pro­grams are at 11 a.m., noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Pro­grams last ap­prox­i­mately 20 min­utes and are sub­ject to weather.

Demon­stra­tion dates in­clude: Satur­day, Sept. 23, Oct. 7 and 21.

Mu­sic at fire­house slated

GARFIELD — Mu­sic at the Fire­house with The Black Oak Band will be 7-9 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 23 in the NEBCO Com­mu­nity Cen­ter, U.S. Hwy. 62 and South Wimpy Jones Road, Garfield. There is plenty of free park­ing, room to dance, and no cover or ad­mis­sion. Do­na­tions are ap­pre­ci­ated with 100 per­cent go­ing to NEBCO FireEMS. Avoca Fire Dept. hosts chicken din­ner

AVOCA — The an­nual chicken din­ner is set for noon to 4 p.m. Satur­day, Sept. 16, in Avoca City Park. There will be one free din­ner per per­son and do­na­tions will be ac­cepted.
