Richard S. Mas­ters dies at 101

Richard S. Mas­ters, 101, of Har­ford, passed away, Satur­day, Sept. 26, at his home. Born June 14, 1914, in Kings­ley, he was the son of the late Alva J. and Clara (Stearns) Mas­ters. His wife, Eloise W. (Wil­liams) Mas­ters, pre­de­ceased him on Dec. 10, 2014, af­ter be­ing mar­ried for 81 years.

Richard owned and op­er­ated Mas­ters Ready Mix Con­crete in Kings­ley since 1951.

He was a mem­ber of First Con­gre­ga­tional Church of Har­ford UCC, honorary life­time mem­ber of Har­ford Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany, and the Har­ford Lodge 445 F. & A.M., Hop Bot­tom. Dick for­merly was a mem­ber of the, Har­ford Fair Board, Har­ford High School Board and County Na­tional Bank Board. He was also a past long time chair­man of the Repub­li­can Party of Susque­hanna County.

Sur­vivors in­clude his daugh­ters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Richard Ber­ish, Har­ford; Betsy and Jonathan Blattmachr, Gar­den City, N.Y.; Jac­que­line and Ron­ald Phillips, Kings­ley; son and daugh­ter-in-law, Richard W. and Shirley Mas­ters, Kings­ley; 15 grand­chil­dren, 39 great­grand­chil­dren, 10 great-great­grand­chil­dren, son-in-law, Gary Housel, Har­ford; and nu­mer­ous other nieces, neph- ews and fam­ily mem­bers.

Be­sides his par­ents and wife, he was pre­de­ceased by a daugh­ter, Mar­cia Housel; grand­son, Brian Housel; sis­ter and brother-in-law, Max­ine and Mitchell Shul­man; and brother and sis­ter-in-law, Jack and Carol Mas­ters.

The fam­ily would like to thank Etery Bara­mashvili for many years of lov­ing care and Tra­di­tional Hos­pice for their as­sis­tance dur­ing the last sev­eral months.

Ser­vices will be held at 3 p.m., Satur­day, Oct. 10, 2015, at First Con­gre­ga­tional Church of Har­ford UCC, Har­ford. A ma­sonic ser­vice will be­gin at 1 p.m. Vis­i­ta­tion will be held prior to ser­vices from 1:30 p.m. un­til time of ser­vice at the church.
