Two displaced in West Side fire

The Times-Tribune - - Local / Nation -

Two city residents were displaced when an early Saturday fire heavily damaged their home.

Scranton firefighters responded to a 6:20 a.m. call to 526 N. Hyde Park Ave. and saw heavy smoke as they pulled up, along with heavy fire in the rear of the two-story, single family home, Acting Assistant Fire Chief Al Taylor said.

The fire was under control in about an hour, he estimated.

There were no reports of injuries in the blaze, but the house was left with heavy damage to the structure, including fire, smoke and water damage. The home is not currently habitable, but the residents were expected to stay with family, Taylor said.

The cause of the fire had not yet been determined. —KYLE WIND
