The 200 block of Washington Avenue is under construction in August
as paving and grating work is underway by crews from contractor R.C. Ruthven. The workmen are standing in front of the Liberty and Prendergast buildings, office buildings that housed various tenants including the Scranton Typewriter Exchange, Consolidated Telephone, a stationer, the Fern Café and the headquarters of the Socialist Party. The corner of the Post Office building can be seen at the right.
