The 200 block of Washington Av­enue is un­der con­struc­tion in Au­gust

as paving and grat­ing work is un­der­way by crews from con­trac­tor R.C. Ruthven. The work­men are stand­ing in front of the Lib­erty and Pren­der­gast build­ings, of­fice build­ings that housed var­i­ous ten­ants in­clud­ing the Scran­ton Type­writer Ex­change, Con­sol­i­dated Tele­phone, a sta­tioner, the Fern Café and the head­quar­ters of the So­cial­ist Party. The cor­ner of the Post Of­fice build­ing can be seen at the right.
