Valvano sues to end family business ties
One of companies involved was scene of big weekend fire.
A Scranton man who claims he has been shut out of several businesses he owns with two family members filed a lawsuit seeking to dissolve their business relationship.
Gary A. Valvano of Tiffany Drive contends his nephews, James Valvano and Rocco Valvano Jr., have taken numerous actions without his input, causing several corporations the men share ownership in to become unprofitable.
The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in Lackawanna County Court, comes four days after one of James Valvano’s companies, TSE Inc. in Dickson City, was hit by a massive fire.
The blaze, which remains under investigation, started in a pile of construction material and then spread to a garage and several vehicles. Fire departments from several municipalities battled the fire for hours late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
The lawsuit says Gary, James and Rocco Valvano own several corporations. Starting in 2013, James and Rocco Valvano excluded Gary Valvano from all aspects of the businesses, the suit says.
The suit says James Valvano invested in another company without Gary Valvano’s permission and that James Valvano also made numerous payments to TSE Inc., which he owns exclusively, from other companies the men jointly own.
The suit asks a judge to enter an order dissolving the corporations. Attempts to reach James Valvano and Rocco Valvano were unsuccessful. Contact the writer: firstname.lastname@example.org; 570-348-9137; @tmbeseckerTT on Twitter
