Police: Attorney had marijuana
A local attorney faces misdemeanor counts after police said he had marijuana in his car.
Jamie A. Dench, 40, 500 Second St., Blakely, was charged via summons Wednesday with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Scranton police received a tip that Dench was purchasing marijuana on Washburn Street on Sept. 28. Patrolman Lawrence Spathelf followed him for a few blocks and pulled him over for failing to use a turn signal. Spathelf found a small baggie of marijuana in the car after Dench allowed him to search it, according to charging documents.
Dench declined to comment on the charges. He had a law practice in Scranton since 2004, focusing on criminal law, personal injury law and family law.
A preliminary hearing has been set for Nov. 15.
