Enthusiastic Rally for Polish Army
Five hundred people attended a rally at Town Hall to help raise funds to support the independent Polish Army serving in France. Four hundred dollars was raised for the cause.
The evening was filled with patriotic speeches from U.S. Rep. John Farr, the Rev. Father Francis Kurkowski of Dupont and Lt. W. Sulewski of the Royal School of Infantry in Toronto.
Sulewski said in his talk that a Polish Army recruitment station would be opening in Scranton on Nov. 16 in the Farr Building.
Following the addresses, pianist Ignacy Paderewski performed several pieces, including the Polish national anthem.
