Joke on homeowners

The Times-Tribune - - Editorial -

Editor: Lackawanna County residents deserve a property reassessment.

I guess taxing equality does not exist here. But the “Cheese and Laureen Show” in county government has determined that making the right and just decision does not equal re-election. With such a great disparity of assessments over the past 50 years, one-third of homeowners have been getting hosed. The commissioners were elected to make the tough decisions, not just the decision to get them re-elected.

There was no referendum to sink a boatload of money into the county’s purchase of the former Globe Store and the commissioners made that decision pretty quickly.

County residents are being played and it has to be fixed. What a joke. But sadly, the joke is on the homeowners — let’s all remember when the commissioners come up for re-election. MICHAEL WALSH DUNMORE
