See what steps the state has taken since the Park­land shoot­ing to ad­dress safety in our schools.

Gov. Tom Wolf in June cre­ated the Safe Schools and Se­cu­rity Com­mit­tee to ad­min­is­ter the $60 mil­lion School Safety Fund cre­ated in the 2018-19 State bud­get.

The com­mit­tee will award fund­ing in the form of grants to School dis­tricts for build­ing up­grades, Se­cu­rity equip­ment, teacher train­ing and other ex­penses and pro­grams re­lated to School Safety.

Wolf and Au­di­tor Gen­eral Eu­gene Depasquale also cre­ated the School Safety Task Force in Fe­bru­ary, af­ter the high School Shoot­ing in Park­land, Florida. The task force held Six round­table dis­cus­sions at Schools from April through June. A fi­nal re­port is ex­pected be­fore the Start of the 2018-19 School year.
