See what steps the state has taken since the Parkland shooting to address safety in our schools.
Gov. Tom Wolf in June created the Safe Schools and Security Committee to administer the $60 million School Safety Fund created in the 2018-19 State budget.
The committee will award funding in the form of grants to School districts for building upgrades, Security equipment, teacher training and other expenses and programs related to School Safety.
Wolf and Auditor General Eugene Depasquale also created the School Safety Task Force in February, after the high School Shooting in Parkland, Florida. The task force held Six roundtable discussions at Schools from April through June. A final report is expected before the Start of the 2018-19 School year.
