John G. Marushock

John G . Marushock, 77, died peace­fully Tues­day at the De­part­ment of Vet­er­ans Af­fairs Med­i­cal Cen­ter, Plains Twp.

He was the son of the late Ge­orge and Mary Smakula Marushock. He at­tended Throop High School, served in the United States Army, was a for­mer part-time Throop po­lice of­fi­cer and was re­tired from Toby­hanna Army De­pot.

Com­monly re­ferred to as “Big John” by his friends, he en­joyed play­ing cards and watch­ing “Jeop­ardy!” He was a kind, gen­er­ous and lov­ing man who will be greatly missed by his fam­ily and all who knew him.

He is sur­vived by sis­ters, Mil­dred Nagy, Throop; Lu­cille, Throop; Eve­lyn Foster and hus­band, Robert, New­ton, N.J.; Ilona West­ing­ton, Jermyn; and sis­ter-in­law, Con­nie Marushock, Throop; and sev­eral nieces, neph­ews, great-nieces, great­nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-neph­ews.

He was also pre­ceded in death by a brother, Ge­orge; and broth­ers-in-law, Julius Nagy and Robert West­ing­ton; and a nephew, Ed­ward Marushock

Friends may call Mon­day, Aug. 13, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the John F. Glin­sky Fu­neral Home, 445 Sander­son St. Throop. Paras­tas ser­vice will be Mon­day at 6.

Fu­neral Mass will be Tues­day, Aug. 14, 2018, at 10 a.m. at SS. Cyril and Method­ius Church in Olyphant. Those at­tend­ing the Mass are asked to go di­rectly to the church. In­ter­ment, St. Cyril’s Ceme­tery Peckville.

In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions may be made to the Dis­abled Amer­i­can Vet­er­ans Chap­ter: Mid Val­ley 11, 901 En­ter­prise St., Dick­son City, PA 18519.
