A car crash seriously injured four Susquehanna County teenagers Friday afternoon.

The crash happened about 1:35 p.m. when a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo carrying the teens traveled west at a high rate of speed on Stack Road in Thompson Twp. The vehicle went airborne while cresting a hill. The driver, a 16-year-old girl from Susquehanna, lost control, and the car traveled onto the berm, struck a dirt pile and rolled about 160 feet before hitting a utility pole, state police said.

The three passengers were ejected before the vehicle came to a rest on its roof.

None of the people in the vehicle were wearing seat belts.

The driver and one passenger, another 16-year-old girl from Susquehanna, were taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. Another passenger, a 17-yearold boy from Union Dale, was taken to Geisinger Wyoming Valley in Plains Twp. and a fourth passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Thompson, was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. All suffered serious injuries, troopers said.

The four teens are Susquehanna Community School District students, Juniorsenior High School Principal Brent Soden said. Teachers, counselors, parents and administrators were on hand late into the evening Friday to meet with the football team, cheerleaders and other concerned students, Soden said.

“Our thoughts go out to these students and their families for a speedy recovery,” Soden said.

The football game between Susquehanna and Dunmore scheduled for Friday night was postponed after the crash. It will be played tonight at 7 in Dunmore.
