‘Willy Wonka’ guilty of thefts
The leader of a multistate ATM and vehicle burglary ring known as “Willy Wonka” or the “Chocolate Man” has pleaded guilty to 60 theft-related charges.
William “Willy Wonka” Rodriguez, 47, pleaded guilty Thursday to his role in crimes across New England. He was one of five people arrested in August in a police investigation dubbed Operation Golden Ticket. Rodriguez is jailed on $500,000 bail pending sentencing Nov. 7; he faces up to 12 years in prison.
