‘Willy Wonka’ guilty of thefts

The leader of a mul­ti­state ATM and ve­hi­cle bur­glary ring known as “Willy Wonka” or the “Choco­late Man” has pleaded guilty to 60 theft-re­lated charges.

William “Willy Wonka” Ro­driguez, 47, pleaded guilty Thurs­day to his role in crimes across New Eng­land. He was one of five peo­ple ar­rested in Au­gust in a po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tion dubbed Op­er­a­tion Golden Ticket. Ro­driguez is jailed on $500,000 bail pend­ing sen­tenc­ing Nov. 7; he faces up to 12 years in prison.
