Po­lice ap­pre­hend wanted man

Bor­ough po­lice ap­pre­hended a Madi­son Twp. man Thurs­day wanted for hit­ting a South Abing­ton Twp. po­lice car with his mo­tor­cy­cle while flee­ing last month.

Moscow Of­fi­cer Martin Cie­less ar­rested Stephen F. Held Jr., 34, 471 Becks Cross­ing Road, at 822 Church St., Moscow. A brief strug­gle en­sued dur­ing the ar­rest and Cie­less used a stun gun to sub­due Held, who was found in pos­ses­sion of sus­pected metham­phetamine and drug para­pher­na­lia, Cie­less said.

South Abing­ton Twp. po­lice said Held fled on his mo­tor­cy­cle on Grif­fin Pond Road on Aug. 29 af­ter be­ing told he was be­ing ar­rested for har­bor­ing a fugi­tive. He struck the driver’s side of a pa­trol car dur­ing that in­ci­dent be­fore flee­ing on foot.

Held was charged Sept. 6 with reck­lessly en­dan­ger­ing an­other per­son, re­sist­ing ar­rest and re­lated counts. Moscow po­lice will file charges of re­sist­ing ar­rest and drug counts, Cie­less said.

Bail and pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing in­for­ma­tion was not im­me­di­ately avail­able late Thurs­day.
