Police apprehend wanted man
Borough police apprehended a Madison Twp. man Thursday wanted for hitting a South Abington Twp. police car with his motorcycle while fleeing last month.
Moscow Officer Martin Cieless arrested Stephen F. Held Jr., 34, 471 Becks Crossing Road, at 822 Church St., Moscow. A brief struggle ensued during the arrest and Cieless used a stun gun to subdue Held, who was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Cieless said.
South Abington Twp. police said Held fled on his motorcycle on Griffin Pond Road on Aug. 29 after being told he was being arrested for harboring a fugitive. He struck the driver’s side of a patrol car during that incident before fleeing on foot.
Held was charged Sept. 6 with recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and related counts. Moscow police will file charges of resisting arrest and drug counts, Cieless said.
Bail and preliminary hearing information was not immediately available late Thursday.
