- Advertorial

The Downtown Bordentown Association is ready to welcome the warmer weather with their first, annual, Spring In to Bordentown City event on Saturday, May 13th between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The event features the new, Creative Team’s Makers Fair and will showcase the talented crafters, artisans, musicians and artists who reside within this one square mile “little city with a lot of charm!” Bordentown City has long had a thriving creative community and this fair is the perfect way to celebrate, encourage and support the arts on a local level.

While you stroll along Farnsworth Avenue you can meet and chat with the artists and makers. Expect to find local painters, photographers, textile artists, and crafters, as well as artisan’s who upcycle found objects into sculpture, and more. Definitely plan to bring the family and participate in arts and crafts activities - including rock painting sponsored by the immensely popular, Bordentown Rocks Group. Hunt for special, painted rocks along the main street, or paint your own and hide them for others to find!

Make it a day and visit the Franklin Carr Memorial Iris Competition and the Hats in Bloom Exhibit and Competition at Bordentown City’s Old City Hall, which are just steps from Farnsworth Avenue. Franklin Carr was a Bordentown resident who became a world-renowned hybridizer of iris flowers. Locals celebrate his achievements each spring with the annual Iris Competition as well as a memorial garden located in Hilltop Park on the north end of Farnsworth Avenue.

No visit to this historic town is complete without shopping and dining in the exceptional shops and restaurants which make it a year round destination. You’ll love exploring the boutiques, art galleries, antique and book shops - as well as two record stores! The renowned restaurants and cafes offer a variety of cuisines from around the world. Many of the businesses are also planning special events and displays for the day. Bordentown City never disappoints, and this is sure to be a fun-filled event to kick off the spring festival season - we’ll see you there!
